Primary emphasis: Adult neuropsychology, with specializations in geriatric neuropsychology

Emphases of training opportunities:
Strong: 50-70% of time is spent clinically in outpatient neuropsychological assessment.
Moderate: 30-45% of time is spent on research. Numerous opportunities exist for Fellows to become involved in ongoing NIH funded research in competency assessment, the neuropsychology of dementia, structural and functional MRI, and the neuropsychology of epilepsy.
Weak: Didactics, 5-10% of time is spent on Neurology Grand Rounds, Neuropsychology Case Conference, Neurology Resident’s Noon Lectures, and Epilepsy Case Conference
Availability of patient populations:
Strong: adults with neurological disorders, including mild cognitive impairment, dementia, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, brain tumor, and stroke. Candidates for deep brain stimulation surgery for Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, and dystonia. Epilepsy pre-surgical candidates.
 
Moderate: Adults with head trauma.
 
Weak: Psychiatric disorders, children.
